Oakland 20th Street Protected Bikeway Ribbon Cutting Celebration

Wednesday, October 21 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Oakland 20th St BART to Lake Merritt bikeway

WHAT: The Oakland Department of Transportation (OakDOT), city officials, Bike East Bay and other community partners will celebrate the completion of the 19th Street BART to Lake Merritt Urban Greenway with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

This initiative has created a more comfortable route for people walking and biking along 20th Street between the BART station and Lake Merritt, including wider sidewalks, concrete-protected bikeways, median street trees, as well as street lighting and traffic signal upgrades.

WHEN: Wednesday, October 21st, 2026 at 1:30 PM
WHERE: 400 Thomas L Berkley Way, Oakland, CA 94612

Optional: Bring your own brown bag lunch for a 12:30 PM meet-up with Bike East Bay staff before the event, at Lake Merritt east of Snow Park here (note that rainy conditions will cancel this meet up)

***This project connects to the Lake Merritt Loop, our campaign for a continuous, 2-way protected cycletrack all the way around the lake. Learn more and register for updates at BikeEastBay.org/LML.***
