Throughout Summer 2025 we partnered with Hayward-based non-profit Eden Youth to host a bilingual, 4-part “Green Mobility Ambassadors” (GMA) advocacy training series.
These sessions covered topics like bike infrastructure basics, a short history of urban planning, pothole and hazard reporting, and making public comments at city meetings.
74 adults and teens participated in the free classes, 4 of whom attended each session making them official “GMA graduates”! Food and drinks were provided at each class.
New Materials Available
Via this project we were able to update all of our Green Mobility Ambassadors presentation materials, handouts, and promo materials into bilingual English and Spanish language versions, with refreshed designs.
Whether or not you have attended a GMA training series, you can still access and use these materials here:
- All About Bikeways handout: English language; Spanish language
- Hazard & Pothole Reporting handout: English language; Spanish language
- Public Comment Training handout: English language; Spanish language
What We Heard from Participants
After the All About Bikeways workshop Brooke, one of the attendees sitting in the front row, said they gained an understanding that all users have different needs on streets and expressed:
“I’d like to change aggressive driver behavior when taking the lane when there is no bike lane”.
-Brooke
After the Environmental & Mobility Justice workshop, an attendee named Johny indicated he would like to see lower speed limits on main streets:
“Que en las calles principales el límite de velocidad sea mas bajo“.
-Johny
