Curious about e-bikes? Come test ride one for free 🚲⚡
Join Ava Community Energy (Ava) and Bike East Bay at this free community E-Bike Test & Ride event!
Whether you’re brand new to e-bikes, already an experienced rider, or somewhere in between, this is your chance to get on a variety of e-bikes, compare your options, and discover what works best for you.
Come experience it for yourself and:
- Test ride a variety of e-bikes on a supervised, closed-course circuit with no traffic
- Compare different styles and models to find the ride that fits your lifestyle
- Meet local bike shops and experts who can answer questions and help you explore your e-bike options
- Learn about Ava Bike Electric rebates and how you can save hundreds on a new e-bike of your choice. This program awards rebates to eligible Alameda County and San Joaquin County residents every month, with larger rebate amounts available for income-qualified residents!
- Get free bike education and safety resources
This is a family-friendly event — everyone is welcome! Please bring a valid ID if you’d like to demo an e-bike. You must be over the age of 18 to test ride an e-bike, though passengers on e-bikes may be under the age of 18.
Parking & transit:
The event is at the Hayward BART station parking lot, conveniently accessible by BART, bus, or car. Free bike valet parking, provided by Bike East Bay, will be available for attendees who ride their bikes to the event. Please bring your bike lock, as the bike valet racks will only be monitored by a volunteer.
Please bring with you:
- Photo ID if you plan to test ride
- A water bottle (we’ll have water refill stations)
- Sunscreen or a hat, it’s gonna be sunny!
- A bike lock if you’re planning to bring your bike (we’ll have bike racks to lock to)
- A helmet if you would like to wear your own; we’ll also have helmets to borrow
See what others are saying
At our previous E-Bike Test & Ride events, people came with different levels of experience and different reasons for attending. Some were riding an e-bike for the very first time. Others were comparing models, looking for a bike that fit their everyday lifestyle, or trying to find the right e-bike to use with their Ava Bike Electric rebate.
Getting on an e-bike and taking it for a ride helped many attendees feel more confident about finding the right fit for them. See what previous attendees said:
“My wife was entirely uninterested in e-bikes before the event, but was sold as soon as she tested one.”
“I ordered a new e-bike in the afternoon after attending the event. Had I not test-ridden it, I wouldn’t have known about it.”
“This was a great event. I had received an Ava Bike Electric rebate but didn’t use it because I just couldn’t choose or understand all of the different kinds of e-bikes. Now, having ridden a few, I know exactly what I’m looking for if my name gets selected again.”
