Please Attend Key Mtg Wednesday for Measure J

Author: Bike East Bay

Date: March 7, 2016

There are many important decisions being made over the course of the next month about a potential new Measure J in Contra Costa County, which will go to voters November 2016, and bring in $2.3 billion in new transportation revenue over the next 25 years. Bike East Bay and our local partners are pushing hard for hundreds of millions of dollars for bike ped projects, multi-modal complete streets, and walkable neighborhoods. We need your help at one or more important upcoming meetings these next two weeks, none more important than this Wednesday’s meeting of the Board of the Contra Costa Transportation Authority, 6:00-8:00pm at their offices at 2999 Oak Road in Walnut Creek, across the street from the Pleasant Hill BART Station.

More info here on March 9 CCTA Board Mtg on Measure J.

There are also meetings in each region of the County, and they are listed here under Upcoming Meetings. If you can attend one of the Regional Transportation Planning Committee meetings (RTPC), that would help as well. I plan to attend all of these meetings and ask for support to fund more bike lanes and bike paths in your cities. Join me.

Here are some talking points

If you can attend a meeting, let Dave Campbell know. This Wednesday’s meeting should be full of supporters. So, come on down.

  • Voters support bike trails and we want 5.0% of funding for paths
  • Complete Street projects are essential to get Contra Costa voters out of traffic and make our busy arterial streets work better without endlessly widening them;
  • Investments in walkable, bikeable neighborhoods are good for the economy and keep Contra Costa residents’ hard-earned money spent locally, creating more good jobs

Information and data on how Contra Costa County streets are ‘incomplete streets.’

And if your Bike East Bay membership is not current, or you’re not a member, we need you more than ever as we fight to transform bike facilities in Contra Costa County. Join or Renew Today
