On Saturday, April 19th, 2025 we are shutting down a block of Ninth Street in West Berkeley between Dwight Way and Channing Way to install a series of traffic calming and bikeway features, then let people ride through and let us know what they think!
The plan includes a 2-way protected cycletrack segment, a traffic-calmed shared lane segment, and different types of car diverters on each end.
The outcomes of this demonstration can help to inform Berkeley’s Bicycle Plan Update underway now, and Alameda CTC’s upcoming San Pablo Ave Parallel Bike Improvements Project in Berkeley, in addition to follow up opportunities.
If you are interested in either joining us as a participant to check it out and provide feedback, or as a volunteer to help assemble the materials in advance, install them on the day-of, or assist in operating the event and collecting feedback and other info, please complete our form here:
This event is part of Bike East Bay’s Green Mobility Ambassadors project in West Berkeley, made possible with generous funding from Bayer’s West Berkeley Community Resiliency Fund (learn more here), and from the PeopleForBikes Industry Community Grants Program (more info here).
