Join Bike East Bay for a family-friendly, no-drop group ride on the Hayward Regional Shoreline. Bring your binoculars for a bird watching expedition led by Snowy Plover Biologist Parker Kaye. The ride starts at South Hayward BART and ends at Yoyo’s Botaneria for a community gathering with free snacks and beverages for purchase.

About Parker Kaye, Snowy Plover Biologist:Â
Parker’s desire to work on the coast began while spending summers tide pooling around Bodega Bay. This led him to pursue a degree in Marine Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz where he began his work with wildlife studying small mammals in both the forest and sand dunes. Parker became interested in working with birds while interning with the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory, where he eventually spent many seasons working with snowy plovers on the salt ponds of the south Bay Area as the program’s lead biologist. He also spent multiple seasons with their waterbird and habitat programs. Parker has worked on projects looking at the impacts of wildfire on vegetation across different California landscapes, and bushwhacking through Point Reyes National Seashore to study the elusive Point Reyes Mountain Beaver.
