Date: December 21, 2021

Construction crews are busy laying rebar and pouring concrete curbs and bulb outs on many bikeways in the East Bay, hopefully one near you. As 2022 comes to a close, we hope the sites of orange construction cones, yellow hard hats, and ugly gray concrete trucks brings you cheer, as they do us, knowing that soon you will enjoy a much safer ride on Milvia Street in downtown Berkeley, in Richmond on Marina Way South in Coronado neighborhood and on 8th Street past Pogo Park, in Fremont thru new protected intersections on Fremont Blvd and on Grimmer Blvd near Warm Springs BART, and down E.14th Street in Ashland.

Surveyors and crews are out at the Mokulumne Trail in Antioch/Brentwood readying a new bike ped bridge over SR4 Bypass, are at Grand Avenue and Harrison Street in Oakland prepping for a new protected intersection, and are preparing to build a bike ped bridge over 80 at Gilman Street for Albany and Berkeley residents to enjoy the Bay Trail.

Construction starts in 2022 on protected bike lanes on Rumrill Blvd and Giant Road in San Pablo, Telegraph Avenue in KONO and Fruitvale Avenue in Oakland, Dana Street in southside area of Berkeley and on a variety of bikeway improvements at North Berkeley BART, and on Harbor Way South and Cutting Blvd in Richmond. And of course plans are in the works for multimodal complete street safety projects on San Pablo Avenue, Mission Blvd, Treat Blvd in Pleasant Hill, Central Avenue in Alameda, 40th Street in Emeryville, Bancroft Avenue in San Leandro, Decoto Road in Fremont, Railroad Avenue in Pittsburg, W. Las Positas in Pleasanton and more.

Just a brief construction update for you as you and your loved ones reunite for the holidays!
