The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) has released the first snapshot of the list of projects recommended for funding through the 2016 Coordinated Call for Projects. The CCTA had $87 million available to allocate, and received 77 applications for a total of $157 million.
Of the available funds, $28 million get allocated by formula to local jurisdictions for repaving projects. $4 million goes to Safe Routes to Schools projects and programs. Finally, jurisdictions compete for the remainder of the funds, which fall under either the One Bay Area Grant (OBAG), Transportation for Livable Communities (TLC) and Pedestrian, Bicycle and Trails Funds (PBTF). The latter two are funded through the county-wide Regional Measure J.
We have compiled below a list of featured projects likely be recommended for funding that signify the advent of new protected bike lanes, wide buffered bike lanes, significant closures of bikeway gaps, or new/improved trail segments.

The TCC will discuss the report on May 24 and direct staff to forward the final recommendations to the Authority Board for approval and submittal to Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC). Once the funds are allocated among the recommended projects, staff will need to assign the funding to specific years starting with fiscal year 17/18.
