Not only are more and more people rolling around town, but bicycling is becoming more a part of East Bay businesses, as companies learn that bicycling is good for their customers, visitors, employees and for their business models. For Thursday, May 10, 2012 we have some ambitious goals to continue the reach of Bike to Work Day into our economy. You can help us achieve them.
- Ride with your Mayor & City Council members on Bike to Work Day Our elected officials in the East Bay love setting the example for others to follow, and active transportation is no exception. Many mayors of cities of the East Bay are ready to ride on Bike to Work Day, yet our goal is for every mayor and city council member to ride. You can help by reaching out to your city council and encouraging them to ride on the big day.
- Stop by your nearest Energizer Station on your commute on Bike to Work Day Our Google Map shows where our volunteers and energizer station hosts are ready to greet you at over one hundred energizer stations around the East Bay, including many Bike to School Day events organized by Cycles of Change and the Safe Routes to School Alameda County program.
- Celebrate with us at the Bike Happy Hour Party in Old Oakland. Mark your calendar for the biggest and most fun Bike to Work Day after party in the Bay Area, Thursday, May 10, 5:00-8:30pm Old Oakland.
- Volunteer to help with Bike to Work Day There are many ways to volunteer and make Bike to Work Day a huge success. Our volunteer coordinator Max Hunter can get you started.
- Check out all the cool events taking place in May as part of Bike Month. Blessing of the Bikes, Bike Happy Hour, Silent Ride, Create in California and much more.
- Pick up the 16-page Bike to Work Day Guide, which appears in the May 2, 2012 edition of the East Bay Express for all the information you need to make this a great Bike to Work Day, including maps and listings of all Energizer Stations, Bike to School Days, Bike Month events and more. A copy will be placed into each Bike to Work Day musette bag.
- Teams Rolling in the Team Bike Challenge The Team Bike Challenge is a great way to start commuting to work by bike, and encouraging others to ride. You can still join a team and earn points every day you ride. Download the Team Bike Challenge Flyer

Request a Bike Buddy, Become a Bike Mentor The East Bay Bicycle Coalition has launched a brand new Bike Buddy program, just in time for Bike to Work Day. This program continues the good work started by our 1000 New Cyclists campaign.
Our Bike Buddy Program helps people in the East Bay start riding their bikes for everyday transportation. We do this by matching new cyclists with Bike Buddies, experienced riders who will support you in your efforts. - Get your workplace ready for Bike to Work Day Businesses can be bicycle-friendly in many ways, from providing secure bike parking, shower facilities, commuter checks for bike commuting, free bike safety classes, and more.
