Bike to Work Day is a celebration of riding in general. There is no wrong way to participate, and to make Bike Month a great month. Wherever you’re riding, whether to work, school, or even around your neighborhood on the day of – we look forward to seeing you out there.

Join the Team Bike Challenge
Bike Commuting doesn’t start and end with Bike to Work Day on May 14th. You can ride all month – and win prizes along the way. Join Team Bike Challenge with friends or coworkers, and log the bike trips you take during May to rack up points. Friends can create teams of 5, and coworkers can enter to compete in the small, medium, or large business categories.
At the end of the month, prizes will be awarded to the top teams by category in each of the 9 counties in the greater Bay Area. Last year, 9,631 people rode over half a million miles in the competition. You can check out the 2014 winners from the East Bay here.
REI will be sponsoring the competition prizes, so you can imagine winning some fancy gear if you ever need extra motivation. Grab some friends and register for the Team Bike Challenge.
Get a Bigger Bag
It’s not Bike to Work Day until you get your bag. Every Energizer Station will be giving away a special canvas tote with Clif Bars, stickers, and more snacks to fuel your commute.
Want to feel extra special for biking on May 14? Bike East Bay’s Bike Ambassadors will be at select Energizer Stations and they will be giving away a BIGGER bag to everyone who joins Bike East Bay or renews as a member. This extra special bag comes with some extra goodies, including everyone’s favorite Chinook books.
Full list of Energizer Stations with Bike Ambassadors will be released the week before Bike to Work Day, although if you really want to plan ahead its safe to say most of the bigger energizer stations will have ’em. Just can’t wait to become a member? Sign up today at BikeEastBay.org/join

Announcing our 2015 Bike Commuter of the Year Award Winners
We are thrilled to announce our 2015 Bike Commuter of the Year award winners!
Every year during Bike Month, Bike East Bay recognizes two outstanding members of the cycling community – one from Contra Costa County and one from Alameda County – for their commitment to bicycling and for inspiring others to use a bicycle regular transportation.
This year’s winners are Gail Lillian, owner of Liba Falafel, and Eric Odell, who commutes from Richmond to the UC Office of the President in Oakland. Read the full story at BikeEastBay.org/BCOY
Bike Friendly Business Winners Announced!
We’re excited to announce our three Bike Friendly Business Award Winners for 2015. Since we started the awards in 2010, we’ve spoken with hundreds of great models for Bike Friendly Businesses. There are many things that have changed since then, but one thing has not; there will always be some businesses that go the extra mile to encourage more bicyclists within their employees and customer base. Together we are changing the way people travel and building a more bike-friendly East Bay for each other.

Have you seen our “iBike” campaign ads?
We partner with the Alameda County Transportation Commission to promote Bike to Work Day and biking in general through a county-wide campaign.
The 2015 bike campaign, I Bike, promotes bicycling as a safe and healthy transportation and commute choice. It includes ads showing bicyclists riding for a variety of trip purposes – work, shopping, health, and quality of life, including access to transit. Since 2008, Alameda CTC has collaborated with Bike East Bay to develop and run ads from mid-April through May to correspond with the annual Bike to Work Day events. In 2015, the ads appear on and in buses, trains and bus shelters throughout the county.
