In May, the City of Fremont earned a bronze Bicycle Friendly Community designation from the League of American Bicyclists. This news came just days after the City cut a ribbon on a new raised bikeway on BART Way, the first semi-raised bikeway in the East Bay. BART Way is also the first protected bike lane leading directly to a BART station entrance. An innovative protected intersection connects it to a growing network of protected bike lanes, with more improvements coming soon to Walnut Avenue and other local streets.
