CLASSES WE OFFER
Our Education Program provides classes for adults, youth, and families throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Our classes are for people of all skill levels. We offer on-the-bike, classroom, or webinar formats in English, Spanish, and Chinese languages. You can sign up to take a class below. Meet amazing instructors and other attendees interested in biking in your community while leveling up your confidence and safety!
We also conduct trainings for engaging in the public process, in order to advocate for better mobility in our local communities. See our Green Mobility Ambassadors series for more.
Urban Cycling 101: Day 1
This fun workshop is taught by an instructor certified by the League of American Bicyclists. Learn basic rules of the road, how to equip your bicycle, fit your helmet, avoid bike theft, ride after dark, and prevent common crashes. 2-hour, indoor or online webinar workshop for adults and teens, no bike required.
Urban Cycling 101: Day 2
Join us for a day of bike riding! 5.5-hour, “Day 2” on-the-road class (outdoor, bike required). We’ll cover on-road, on-your-bike practice sessions, working to improve your handling skills and learn crash-avoidance maneuvers.
Adult Learn to Ride
For adults or teens who have either not yet learned how to ride a bike, or did a long time ago but want a refresher on the basics of balancing, pedaling and steering. 3-hour workshop for adults and teens, bike and helmet required.
1 Hour Workshops
These sessions go in-depth with one of our certified instructors on a specific topic such as bike mechanics, avoiding bike theft, riding after dark, and more. 1-hour, indoor workshop for adults and teens, no bike required.
Family Cycling Workshops
This class is for kids who are able to ride a bike and ready to take to the roads and pathways with their parents. Parents and kids attend together. Outdoor workshop for adults and youth in grades 2-6 (approx.)
Youth Bike Rodeos
This fun class is for kids ages 7 to 12 who are excited about bikes and need some practice before riding with their families, to school, and beyond!
