Our local partners are hosting Bike to Wherever Day celebrations across the East Bay this Bike Month. Bike to Lake Merritt and hang out with Walk Oakland Bike Oakland, ride across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and enter to win raffle prizes! Celebrate Bike to Wherever Day with Walk Oakland Bike Oakland, Bike East Bay, and the City of Oakland at Lake Merritt. Pack a picnic and ride to the lake for an afternoon of celebration, bike project gallery, and more!

Oakland Pedal Pool

Multiple locations, May 21

Hop on the City of Oakland Pedal Pool on Bike to Wherever Day. Councilmembers Loren Taylor, Dan Kalb, and Noel Gallo will join the ride starting from multiple locations to the afternoon celebration at Lake Merritt. Check out the route and meet-up locations and times here.

Missed the fun on Bike to Wherever Day? Our local leaders and government partners are giving out free Bike to Wherever Day bags at your favorite East Bay bike destinations. Enjoy your weekend roll on trails and parks and pick up your bag along your route.

• Bay Trail & Albany Beach, South end of the beach, 12pm-1pm, by Albany Strollers and Rollers

• Iron Horse Trail & Contra Costa Canal Trail, 9:30am-11:30am, by Bike Walk Walnut Creek

• Fremont Main Library, 10am-2pm, by City of Fremont

Bike Mural Unveiling in Alameda

Join Bike Walk Alameda, City of Alameda, and West Alameda Business Association and celebrate the new bike mural unveiling. Ride on the Cross Alameda Trail and pick up your Bike to Wherever Day bag at the Bike Walk Alameda table and learn more about exciting new bike projects coming to the Island. 

Richmond Greenway Day

May 21, Group Rides meet at 11am and 4pm

Celebrate ‘Bike To Wherever Day’ on the Richmond Greenway! Ways to Participate:

• Cycle along this paved trail with your neighbors on Friday, May 21st, any time of day.

• Wear green to show you’re part of Greenway Day!

• Use the hashtag #GreenwayDay on social media

• Join the group rides at 11am or 4pm.

  • Morning Ride (11am): Meet at The Richmond Museum of History (400 Nevin Ave, Richmond, CA 94804). All skill levels welcome – we will stop by Rich City Rides and then take the Greenway from Dirt World to Point Richmond, at which point you can continue over the Richmond-San Rafael bridge, or stop at Kaleidoscope for a coffee instead! If you go as far as Point Richmond it’s a nice 3.5 mile ride to get fresh air – carry on over the bridge and you add about 11 miles to the journey. Masks are mandatory. Please sign up in advance via Eventbrite.

  • Afternoon Family Ride (4pm): A gathering for kids and their adults. Meet at Lulu’s Cyclery in Point Richmond (217 W Richmond Ave, Suite C, Pt Richmond, CA 94801). We will ride at a kid-friendly pace from Point Richmond to Unity Park, via the Greenway. There will be sidewalk chalk and bubbles and music. The total distance of this ride is 2.3 miles. For all participants ages 2+: please wear a mask! Please sign up in advance via Eventbrite.

Bike the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge

Bike the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge for Fun and Prizes! 

During the month of May, we’re promoting the rides and walks across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. Keep a look out for the “Bike The Bridge” banners (look just like the image above) on both sides of the bridge, and scan the QR codes on them for prizes. One QR code scan will enter you in raffle for a tandem bicycle (from The Pedaler Bicycle Shop), dinner for two at Anaviv in Richmond, and more prizes. Scan the QR codes on both sides for a $5 Amazon gift card. If you scan both codes 5 times during commuter hours, we’ll send you an additional $20!

#SpareTheAirBikeSanRamon Selfie Contest

Spare the Air, 511 Contra Costa, May 21-31

Bicyclists are encouraged to Bike to Wherever in San Ramon any time between May 21 through May 31, and take a selfie at your favorite bikeable spot and post it on social media with the hashtag #SpareTheAirBikeSanRamon. On June 1, 2021, two Grand Prize winners will be randomly selected from posts using this hashtag to receive a $250 gift card to Sports Basement provided by the Tri-Valley Spare the Air Resource Team.

And stop at Sports Basement San Ramon to receive a Bike to Wherever Day bag loaded with promotional items from Bishop Ranch Transportation Center, 511 Contra Costa and the San Ramon Valley Street Smarts Program.
