OpenStreetMap 101 Introduction to Bike Infrastructure Mapping

February 17 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
An image with a dark blue background featuring the PeopleForBikes 2026 "Best Places to Bike" logo. The logo includes a blue and red icon of a bicycle and a smile. Large, vertical yellow text reads "2026," and white bold text reads "BEST PLACES TO BIKE." Below the logo, white text reads, "Improve the Accuracy of Your City Ratings Score."

PeopleForBikes’ annual City Ratings measures the quality and connectivity of low-stress bike networks in thousands of communities around the world. Decision-makers and advocates use it to benchmark progress, identify network gaps, and prioritize investments.

Learn how improving your community’s data directly improves the accuracy of your City Ratings score by joining this interactive workshop for a hands-on introduction to mapping and tagging bike infrastructure in OpenStreetMap’s browser-based iD editor. The session will kick off with a live demonstration on how to add and edit bike infrastructure on OpenStreetMap followed by guided work time to update your own community’s map, ask questions, and troubleshoot in real time.

You’ll leave this session knowing how to:
* Use the OpenStreetMap iD Editor with confidence
* Add or update bike infrastructure to OpenStreetMap
* Add or update key destinations in OpenStreetMap
