Help Cycles of Change raise $30,000 to power bike access in East Oakland!
Bike-A-Thon is October 25, 2025 from 10am – 2pm at Albany Bulb. We’ll ride a 5.7 loop starting around the Bulb from 11am to 12pm. Afterwards, we will gather for community, Cycles swag, bike smoothie, raffles, and more!

Cycles of Change emerged in 1998 as an afterschool bicycle education program as part of a community-based partnership aimed at reversing the root causes of youth violence. Their bike clubs embark on group rides through the landscape of East Oakland, learn basic bike mechanics, and get to take their bikes home at the end of the semester. Bike Club instills in our students a sense of ownership and agency in the streets of Oakland, and develops their long term mobility as cyclists.
As funding to education faces historic cuts, it’s getting harder to secure the resources they need to keep Bike Clubs rolling. However, they’re committed to continuing bringing bicycle access to youth in Oakland communities most impacted by environmental injustice. You’re invited to be a part of sustaining their vital work!
