Bike Pleasanton Gearing Up for the Spring

Author: Bike East Bay

Date: February 7, 2017

After a successful campaign to fix the dangerous gap in the Iron Horse Trail at Stanley Boulevard and Valley Avenue, Bike Pleasanton is gearing up for the spring.

City staff have put together a great design for the soon-to-be protected intersection at Stanley, Valley, and Bernal, which is set for construction in late spring. The design features green “cross bikes” and protected corners for bicyclists to wait for their turns. And, the city has been piloting a new protected bikeway design on West Las Positas, with a short row of flex posts separating the bike lane in front of Fairlands Elementary School.

With the bike plan update process wrapping up, Bike Pleasanton advocates are excited to continue working for better bikeways in 2017.

At their first meeting of the year on February 1, more than 10 members of Bike Pleasanton gathered to discuss priorities for future campaigns, activities for this year’s Bike to Work Day, and opportunities for community outreach in the coming year.
