On February 1, residents of the Ashland area in unincorporated Alameda County gathered to see designs for phase II of the East 14th Street improvements and give feedback on this vital community connector.
Advocates from Bike Walk Eden and BikeWalkCV attended the meeting and were happy to see buffered bike lanes and bike boxes in the design, as well as high-visibility crosswalks and added sidewalk amenities for people walking or waiting for the bus.
The project area extends from 162nd Avenue to the overpass of 238. This short stretch of East 14th Street is an important center of the Ashland community and home to REACH Youth Center and Edendale Park.
