Top 5 Things to do at Pedalfest 2019

The East Bay’s biggest pedal-powered festival, Pedalfest, is coming up on August 3 from 11-5pm in Jack London Square. Brought to you by Bike East Bay, Dolan Law Firm and Lyft, from stunt shows to bike rodeos to the epic amphibious bike race, you don’t want to miss it! Need help deciding what to do at this free, family-friendly event? We’ve got you covered. Just don’t forget to RSVP – the first 1,000 get a free double scoop from Ben & Jerry’s in Jack London! See you on the square!

1. Check out the Amphibious Bike Race

This is what keeps folks coming back to the ‘fest year after year. See the height of creativity (or madness?) as contestants bike their homemade pedal-powered contraptions through Jack London Square and into the Oakland Estuary. Splashdown starts at the Broadway Main Stage, 12:30pm.

2. Pedal-Powered Stunts

Been dreaming of popping a wheelie but just haven’t nailed it yet? Prepare to have your mind blown. Pedalfest hosts more than one type of pedal-powered stunt show, with bicycle stunts on the Broadway Main Stage, and BMX stunts flying high in front of the water at 55 Harrison Street. Get ready to do your fare share of gasping and peeking through your hands.

3. Carnivals, Rodeos, and Parades

This one’s special for the kids (and kid-like adults, too). Pedalfest brings back the Cyclecide pedal-powered carnival rides, kids bike rodeo and a decoration station for kids to deck out their bikes in preparation for the kids bike parade in the afternoon.

4. Pedal-powered Live Music

Get your dance on, chill on the lawn with a cold one, or hop on a stationary bike – all part of the normal outdoor concert experience, right? At Pedalfest it is! Live bands play all day, powered by you.

5. Get Your Free Ice Cream!

Did we mention there’s free ice cream? But only if you RSVP! First 1,000 to RSVP get a free double scoop from Ben & Jerry’s in Jack London Square. No better way to cool down after a day of pedal-powered shenanigans.
