Telegraph Avenue street campaign goes to Oakland City Council Tuesday, December 9 and we need you there in support. Oakland Public Works is proposing a road diet from 20th St to 41st St, with protected bike lanes from 20th-29th and buffered bike lanes from 29th-41st. There may still be potential to improve the project as we move forward but first we need City Council approval on December 9. This is Phase 1 of the Telegraph Avenue bikeway and after shown to be successful, will be extended north to create a continuous, dedicated bike lane from Downtown Oakland to Berkeley.
When: Tuesday, December 9. Council Meeting starts at 5:30pm but Telegraph item is likely to come up later. Check back for details or follow us on Twitter for realtime updates: @bikeeastbay hashtag #oakmtg. You can also watch streaming coverage of Council meetings on KTOP<\br>Sign up to speak online here
Where: Oakland City Hall, 1 Frank Ogawa Plaza, Council Chambers 3rd Floor. Look for Bike East Bay staff and supporters wearing our “Continuous Protected Bike Lane” stickers.
Thank you to everyone who came to the Public Works Committee of City Council on December 2 in support of a better Telegraph Avenue. By 4-0 vote, the Committee moved this important project to the full Council on December 9.
