In response to comments from Bike East Bay and several of our members, El Cerrito revised its draft Active Transportation Plan to include a discussion of “sharrows” vs “dedicated bikeways” and much more information about bicycle boulevards and when and how there are implemented. This is an improvement to the Plan.
However, Bike East Bay is still pushing that the Plan clearly show what the public has asked for in terms of bike facilities on each street, so that going forward and as opportunities to improve streets arise, there is a clear record of what the public wants aside from practical consideration of technical and political feasibilities.
The revised Plan is now available on the City’s website www.el-cerrito.org/atp and will be going to El Cerrito’s Planning Commission for consideration on Wednesday, August 19 at 7:30 PM at City Hall, 10890 San Pablo Avenue, at Manila Ave.
