Our summer student ambassadors continue to walk Bancroft Avenue and Williams Street in San Leandro, talking to residents about building a safe bikeway on each street. Before they wrap up their work this summer, they will be at the Bay Fair Center Farmer’s Market Saturday, August 21 and the Downtown San Leandro Farmer’s Market Wednesday, August 25. If you use Bancroft Avenue or Williams Street, or live in San Leandro, you can help. Please take a short survey and pinpoint any safety issues you know of using an interactive map. And if you would like to volunteer to help do outreach at one of these farmer’s markets, please email dave@bikeeastbay.org.
San Leandro’s Crosstown Class IV Corridors Study will identify opportunities to improve safety, access, and mobility for all roadway users along Bancroft Avenue and Williams Street. Bancroft Avenue and Williams Street are two major corridors that provide important connections to nine schools, transit, housing, recreation areas, and businesses. The Study will include community engagement and a detailed traffic and safety analysis. Community engagement will help identify key issues on both corridors and collaboratively develop design solutions. The Study will develop a set of recommendations for separated bike lanes and pedestrian improvements that the City can take forward for future funding opportunities.
