KEEP A LOOKOUT — Theft at Embarcadero Bike Station

Author: bcomadmin

Date: January 6, 2011

From Gene Oh of Alameda Bicycle, operator of the Embarcadero Bike Station:

“We had a bike theft [at Embarcadero BART Bike Station] on New Year’s Day. As a reminder, please lock your bike frame to the bike rack as we [Alameda Bicycle] will be consistent with BART policy and not be responsible for stolen property. The stolen bike had a front wheel locked to the rack, so the thief left the front wheel and took another bike’s wheel!

Just today [Wed 1/5/11], an unregistered user went in as the door was closing. Luckily, the registered user alerted us about this, thus allowing us to alert you and take actions.

We are trying to catch this person, as he may be the same person that stole the bike. Please, if you notice a person trying to sneak in after you, immediately call Gene at 510-205-3006.

Thanks all for your help. Together we’ll make our bikes safe from crime!”
