Join a Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Group Ride

This is it–the moment we’ve been waiting for! The bike path on the Richmond-San Rafael bridge is set to open on November 16, 2019. Rich City RIDES, Bike East Bay, and ride leaders from around the East Bay will be taking groups to the bridge all weekend long. 

As leaders send us ride details, we’ll post them here. Whether you’re looking to spin out and back or to do an epic tour of multiple bridges, read on to find your group ride. Want to lead one? Let us know.

Richmond/San Rafael bridge RIDE!

Ride the bridge with Rich City RIDES, starting at 9:00am on November 16. Rich City Rides is planning a ride from Rich City Rides Unity Park Bike Hub to the new bridge path in Point Richmond. Should be a blast! A little over 5 miles, riding to the Bridge, 20 miles round trip for those who want to venture across and back. So quite a bit longer than our usual Wellness Rides, but all mellow riding along some of the newly painted bike lanes with amazing views of Point Molate over the bridge! Ride with Bike East Bay to the Grand Opening

Bike East Bay will lead a ride from Richmond BART to the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge for the opening day ribbon cutting ceremony, and you’re invited! We will meet outside the Richmond BART station on Nevin Plaza starting at 9:00am and roll out toward Point Richmond promptly at 9:30am. RSVP.

Meet: San Leandro BART or Richmond BART at 9:00
Info: Experience a relaxed Marin County teaser. Check out routes options to Tiburon, Fairfax, SF and San Rafael. Meet 8:00 a.m. on the San Leandro Bart northbound platform and we’ll take the 8:16 train together to Richmond. We will meet outside Richmond BART at 9:00 a.m. and roll out with Bike East Bay at 9:30. This is a NO DROP ride. Info: 58 miles, casual (no drop) road cycling ride. Ride will end at Embarcadero BART. Get more info and post questions on Strava club event club ride.

Saturday, November 16, 9:00am 
Grizzly Peak Cyclists: Richmond Bridge Opening
Ride Leader: Phil Morton
Meet: Richmond BART Station
Info: Grizzly Peak Cyclists will join the Bike East Bay ride rolling out of Richmond BART at 9:30, then a contingent will continue on over the bridge and on to San Francisco. Details at GPC rides page.

Team Pedaler: A Bridge Not Too Far
Ride Leader: Jeff Jerge
Meet: The Watershed Nursery 601 A Canal Blvd, Richmond
Info: Join The Pedaler Bike Shop on their ride to the grand opening. 13 miles round trip. Or 4 miles round trip to ribbon cutting ceremony. Then we will ride across and back and take a few group photos. The Watershed Nursery will be donating a portion of there proceeds to the Bay Trail. Get more info and RSVP on Facebook.

San Rafael to Yerba Buena
Ride Leader: Sterling Sam
Meet: Main St and East Francisco Blvd, San Rafael
Info: Bike ride on the new multi-use path on the San Rafael-Richmond Bridge, along the bike path through Richmond, El Cerrito, Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville, onto the bike path on the Bay Bridge to Yerba Buena Island and back. Riders should plan on 3 hours total, with regroups along the way. The ride will be on paths entirely separate from cars, but participants should feel comfortable riding around pedestrians. 39.4mi approx., 15mph pace.

Meet: Washington Elementary School, Richmond, CA
Info: BORP offers recreational opportunities for people with physical disabilities. Access to the bridge is an exciting opportunity! This ride will be about 13 miles long. We will start and finish at the Washington Elementary School parking lot. If you need a bicycle please let us know, so that we can bring one for you. We always welcome volunteer riders. The Tortoises: Richmond to San Rafael and Back

Ride Leader: Josh Rose
Meet: Kaleidescope Coffee, 109 Park Pl, Richmond 
Info: 12 mile ride across the newly opened Richmond-San Rafael Bridge bike lane. We’ll start at Kaleidoscope Coffee at 9 am, bike across the bridge at a gentle pace, take in the scenic views from the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Scenic View point (2675 Francisco Blvd E, San Rafael) and then head back. Richmond to San Rafael with the VeloRaptors

Meet: Pt. Richmond Social Club, 401 S Garrard Blvd, Richmond
Info: We will start at the Pt. Richmond Social Club in Pt. Richmond, and ride across the bridge for coffee and pastries at the Rustic Bakery in Larkspur. Pace approx 10-12mph. Please RSVP to Steve Blair.
