Donate a bike or host a bike drive and support Cycles of Change APC Bike Shop.
Cycles of Change APC relies on donated bikes to continue running its programs. In the past year, the shop has been featured in Alameda Magazine and the Alameda Sun. It has received the highest rating, five stars, on Yelp. The shop received over 1000 donated bikes in the past year, and has redistributed them through its earn-a-bike program, bicycle education programs, and refurbished bicycle sales.
Cycles of Change APC is a friendly non-profit community bicycle shop which opened in June 2006. Our mission is to empower local communities by providing outstanding recycled bicycle services in a safe, thriving, creative and self-sustaining space. Services include used bike sales, youth and adult job training, bicycle field trips, a community do-it-together repair shop, volunteer opportunities, and much more!
It is a collaboration between Cycles of Change, a non-profit East Bay youth bike education program, and Alameda Point Collaborative (APC), a non-profit which manages housing and services for a 200 unit residential community comprised of 500 formerly homeless adults and families.

We recently received a Community Heroes Award. Here’s why the Crissy Field Center gave us the award:
Cycles of Change has been changing the lives of East Oakland youth for more than a decade. Using a hands-on approach, they engage hundreds of kids in programs that integrate physical education, nutrition, and mechanical curricula, while making significant positive contributions to the local environment. Through their Earn-A-Bike program, youth gain an understanding of the principles of re-use by learning how to repair bicycles that would have otherwise ended up in landfill. Cycles of Change has influenced a wide network of local residents and policy-makers by raising awareness and encouraging the use of bicycles—in conjunction with public transportation—as an every-day mode of travel. Their efforts helped pass Measure DD, a bond for $193 million that improved access and bicycle safety around Lake Merritt.
