Bike Week at the Berkeley YMCA, May 10-16

Ride your bike to the Downtown Berkeley YMCA throughout Bike Week to earn a FREE raffle entry. Raffle tickets available at the Welcome Desk. Show your helmet or commuter gear to receive your entry to win a bike tune-up, gift certificates, bike gear, and more. The more you ride, the better your chance to win (although, only one entry per person, per day, please)!

All Bike Week events are FREE and open to Berkeley-Albany YMCA Full Service members, unless otherwise indicated.

15% discount at Mike’s Bikes Berkeley location for all Berkeley YMCA members throughout bike week, May 10-16. Show your Membership card when checking out to receive your discount.

Bike Challenge Team Meet and Greet

Creative Movement Studio

6:00 – 7:30pm

Registered team members of the YMCA Team Bike Challenge are invited to this exclusive event.

Come meet your teammates, and silk-screen your personalized team shirt to wear on Bike to Work Day. Light refreshments provided.

Team challenge registration is FREE and open to all YMCA members, staff, and volunteers.

Cycling Equipment and Gear Workshop

Creative Movement Studio

6:00-7:00pm

Mike’s Bikes experienced staff demonstrate the latest cycling equipment and gear. Come learn about what you need to get started riding, for recreation, transportation, or sport. Already riding? Come check out the latest trends – this is a great opportunity to discover how to make your current ride more comfortable or stylish!

All participants receive FREE entry to win a $50 Mike’s Bike gift certificate, courtesy of Mike’s Bikes!

Wednesday, May 12

Adult Safety Workshop

6:00-7:00pm

Youth Movement Studio

Isaac Rodriguez, East Bay Bicycle Coalition and Cycles of Change Education Coordinator, leads this interactive workshop. Bring your questions or concerns!

All participants receive FREE entry to win an adult sized Giro bike helmet, courtesy of Mike’s Bikes!

Bike Repair Workshop

6:00 – 7:00pm

Mike’s Bikes

2161 University Ave., Berkeley

Mike’s Bikes mechanics teach you how to fix your bike. Just bring your bike and your questions to their Berkeley store, and they’ll provide friendly (and FREE) hands-on instruction. Non-members welcomed.

Bike to Work Day

Recharge at an “Energizer Station” on your way to the Y! Bicyclists can stop for refreshments, giveaways, and bicycling information or simply to be ‘cheered on’ by fellow participants at stations throughout the East Bay. Indoor Family Bike Night

7:00 – 9:00pm

Family Gym

Safety information geared towards families, confidence course, and more! Bring your bikes or borrow our child-sized trikes. Family Safety Workshop led by experienced Sports Basement staff from 7:00 – 8:00pm covering traffic safety, visibility, helmets, bike safety/maintenance and more. All workshop participants receive FREE entry to win a Kid’s Gift Bag, courtesy of Sports Basement!

Saturday, May 15

Family Bike Ride

2:00pm

Meet near the bike racks outside the Berkeley YMCA for a ride around Berkeley the whole family will enjoy!The ride will begin/end at the YMCA, and make a stop at a Berkeley playground. Stay for the entire ride, or just a portion. Please remember to bring your helmets and snack/water, and anything else you will need to make the ride fun and comfortable for your family. Non-members welcomed.

Adult Group Ride
