As the Beatles would say, we all “get by with a little help from [our] friends”. Bike Buddies help make sure that all of our friends who are trying out cycling for transportation have the support they need.
Bike Buddies help new riders in two main ways:
They can serve as mentors by answering questions new riders have about anything ranging from how to pick a route, to what gear to buy, to how to take a bike on BART.

As the Beatles would say, we all “get by with a little help from [our] friends”. Bike Buddies help make sure that all of our friends who are trying out cycling for transportation have the support they need. Bike Buddies help new riders in two main ways: They can serve as mentors by answering questions new riders have about anything ranging from how to pick a route, to what gear to buy, to how to take a bike on BART. Bike Buddies may also serve as riding companions by volunteering to accompany new riders on their initial rides and help them pick safe routes and ride safely. To become a Bike Buddy, click on the “Be a Bike Buddy” button below. The link will lead you to a questionnaire through which you will give us some basic information about you and let us know what you would like to offer as a Bike Buddy. The questionnaire also includes a release form you will need to read and agree to. We’ll then email you a list of things to teach new cyclists for you to review and then we’ll match you up with a new rider!
