Are you passionate about increasing bicycling in the East Bay? EBBC is seeking board members for the coming year. Alongside other committed cyclists, you can contribute and help EBBC flourish.
By serving on the EBBC Board, you will directly impact bicycling improvements in the East Bay. You’ll learn a lot about bicycle advocacy and local bike planning, you’ll work with a team of enthusiastic bicyclists, and you’ll probably have some fun along the way, too. You can help shape the future of the East Bay Bicycle Coalition and bicycling in the East Bay.

East Bay Bicycle Coalition’s (EBBC) mission is to promote bicycling as an everyday means of transportation and recreation. EBBC is a 501c3 nonprofit managed by an 11-member volunteer Board of Directors. EBBC is legally obligated to hold an Annual Meeting to nominate the Board of Directors and Officers. Presently EBBC holds 6 board meetings annually, and one retreat to build consensus around upcoming campaigns.
EBBC is currently asking members in good standing to consider either making a nomination or applying to serve as a board member to guide EBBC. We seek energetic board members committed to our mission. We particularly encourage bicyclists with one or more of the following skills and/or experience:
– Marketing/PR
– Financial Know How
– Event Planning
– Public Speaking
– Grassroots Campaign Organizing
– Transportation or Bicycle & Pedestrian Planning
– Networking
– Community organizing
– Writing
– Bike Shop Owner
– Fundraising
– Legal expertise
EBBC represents the interests of bicyclists throughout 33 cities in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. We strive for diversity and geographic equity among board applicants:
-Of all ages
-From all areas of the East Bay. We are particularly seeking members from East of the hills and Southeastern Alameda County
-All different kinds of riders: Family cyclists, commuters, club cyclists, recreational cyclists, utility cyclists, etc.
Women and people of color are especially encouraged to apply.
Board Members commit to the following:
1. Regular attendance at board meetings.
2. Participation in EBBC Board committees.
3. Volunteering for and willingly accepting occasional board assignment. .
5. Actively participating in the Board’s annual evaluation and planning efforts.
6. Representing EBBC in your community, local media, or other grassroots forums to promote bicycling and EBBC campaigns.
