Climate Ride 2014: New Route – New Speakers – More fun!

Bike from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Sacramento Delta for a good cause. And give your friends a chance to thank you for stepping up and joining the fight to protect the beautiful world in which we live through bike advocacy! In May 2014, Bike East Bay will again be a beneficiary of the Climate Ride and are ready to help you raise your $2,800 minimum and perhaps a lot more.

Yes, we do put the fun in “Fun”draising! You can help Bike East Bay build hundreds of miles of bikeways that are safe, convenient, and comfortable to ride – it’s not too late to join us and sign up for the 2014 California Climate Ride. This time around, the route will be shorter and run from Saturday to Tuesday, meaning participants do not need to take as much time off work (we know you’re busy!).

What’s the Climate Ride?

The Climate Ride is a four-day adventure that takes you through beautiful scenery during the day, and brings you engaging speakers at night. Topics range from renewable energe and climate science to sustainability and bicycle infrastructure. Riders need only to focus on riding the 50-70 miles per day, while staff takes cares of meals, snacks, bike support, luggage transport and all other logistics. We’ll make sure you are kept happy for a worry-free and memorable ride!

Bike East Bay partnered with Climate Ride, the largest environmental cycling event in the county, for the first time in 2011 raising over $10,000 to directly support our bicycle advocacy work. In 2012 our awesome team of 7 dedicated riders raised over $22,000 – in 2013, our 9-person team led by our Executive Director Renee Rivera raised close to $30,000 and had a great time doing so! Next May, Team Bike East Bay is hitting the road again! You could be a part of our team this year, enjoying an amazing 4-day ride from San Francisco to Sacramento via Petaluma, Calistoga and Napa. Get inspired by the advocacy work of your fellow riders, and know that you are really making a difference for biking and for climate change.

Join us!

It’s not too late, and we would love to have you on Team Bike East Bay for this year’s California Climate Ride starting May 17th, 2014 in San Francisco. Each rider has to raise $2,800 for the charity of their choice, and you can choose Bike East Bay. When you choose us as your beneficiary a portion of every dollar you raise for the Climate Ride will go to support Bike East Bay’s work to make your ride better everyday.

We have already organized a series of training rides ahead of the Climate Ride, so if you’re not 100% sure you’re ready, we’ll get you there. These training rides are open to everyone – they’re a lot of fun and give you the chance to explore the East Bay! If you have questions or concerns about fundraising for the ride click here to download our “Bike East Bay Climate Ride Fundraising Tips.”
