What do board members do?
See the overview of board responsibilities here.

How were the 2021 board candidates selected?
Bike East Bay called for applications to the board of directors in fall 2020 and received seven board applications. Members of the Governance Committee interviewed each applicant and then narrowed down to a candidate slate based on their skills and ability to contribute to ongoing board work, particularly fundraising, strategic planning, and equity. Four of the seven candidates on the slate are returning board members. The board of directors approved this slate of candidates to go before members for a vote at the December 2020 board meeting. Meet your 2021 board candidates!

How many board members are there?
Bike East Bay bylaws stipulate there may be up to 17 board members. If members approve this slate of candidates, Bike East Bay’s board will have 14 members and three open slots. The board is retaining these open slots in order to continue our search for a diverse and representative board in 2021.

How does voting work?
All current Bike East Bay members are eligible to vote for the candidate slate. Attend the 2021 Bike East Bay member meeting on Thursday February 4 to meet the candidates and cast your vote. The meeting will be conducted electronically via Zoom.

You may vote “yay,” “nay,” or abstain from voting. We will vote electronically using a voting tool in order to record and verify votes. A quorum of 1% of the membership is needed to conduct the vote, and a majority vote passes.
