Job Description:
This is a short-term, fairly self-directed position for someone who loves marketing and outreach. The primary responsibility is to create high awareness of the Campus Bicycle Initiative during Welcome Week events and on Campus Bike Day.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit & schedule volunteers to do tabling at Caltopia (8/21-22), Sproul Plaza (8/22-26), Calapalooza (8/25), Urban Outfitters event (9/1), and Campus Bike Day (9/9)
- Figure out most effective ways to encourage people to sign up for workshops, visit BicyCal, participate in Campus Bike Day, and join our mailing list
- Develop training materials & train volunteers
- Arrange logistics of table banner production
- Arrange logistics for tabling – secure table location, make sufficient copies of all handouts, arrange for table/banner/etc. to be there, do set-up and clean-up
- After the events, enter all participant data into a database, send out follow-up communication to participants, and provide summary report
Qualification:
- Passion for getting around by bicycle
- Available to work from Mon. 8/1 through Fri. 9/16:
- 10 hrs/wk most weeks
- As many hrs as needed during the weeks of 8/21-27 and 9/5-9 to provide sufficient management to the team of volunteers
- Experience with outreach, marketing, communication, etc.
- Experience successfully managing teams
- Excellent people skills (written & verbal)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to both work independently and be responsive to direction from Committee members
- 10 hrs/wk most weeks
