Fremont Bike Tour & Ribbon Cutting

***UPDATE, PLEASE READ: The Fremont BART station will be closed on May 11 due to track work from Union City to Warm Springs.***

Ride participants arriving by BART need to either:

  1. Take your bike on the free bus bridge between the Union City and Fremont stations (or Warm Springs to Fremont if arriving from the south) – See map below – BART staff have informed us that there will be capacity for participants and their bikes on the bus bridge, but we recommend taking the train arriving in Union City at 8:41am so ensure you will be at Fremont BART by 9:30am.

  2. Bike from the Union City BART station to the Fremont BART station, to arrive by 9:30am for the Fremont Bike Tour sign-in and orientation.
For a group ride between the stations, participants can take the BART train arriving in Union City at 8:41am, and head out with our ride leader Robert via this 4.8 mile route which includes on-street bike lanes as well as some flat, off-street dirt trails.

Join Bike East Bay and City of Fremont staff for this guided and family-friendly bike infrastructure tour.

We will explore and learn about some of the exciting work the city has accomplished to date, as well as share info about future projects and the Fremont Active Transportation Plan update underway now, helping to guide these investments. The ride will include:

  • A ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Walnut/Liberty protected intersection (funded by a Safe Routes to BART grant)
  • A tour of other protected intersections, the Walnut Ave cycletrack, and a segment of the East Bay Greenway
  • A status update on Fremont’s new Active Transportation Plan process and input opportunities, as well as plans for a Fremont Blvd cycletrack
  • An optional post-ride lunch gathering at Sliver Pizzeria in Downtown Fremont (vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available)

This event is hosted by Bike East Bay, in partnership with Bike Fremont and the City of Fremont.

Bring your own bike, helmet, water, and any snacks you might need during the ride. Any participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
