Federal legislation could doom bike access on public transit

Federal legislation could doom bike access on public transit

When EBBC sought regulatory relief to allow 3 bikes per bike rack on buses, advocates had to travel no farther than Sacramento. But if the Obama Administrations gets its way, EBBC advocates will have to start traveling cross-country to deal with Washington, DC bureaucrats.

That is because Transportation Secretary Ray La Hood wants to implement Federal take-over of public transit safety regulations. Because the FRA has done such a marvelous job in regulating intercity rail, the Secretary wants to replicate that bureaucracy at the FTA – even to the point of Federal control over local bus operations.

High-tech bicycle parking has been available in Japan for over a decade. Recent comments about this video in Drunkcyclist questioned the need for bicycle parking in the US and exhibited distrust at leaving an expensive road bike in the hands of a robot. Our perspective in the East Bay may differ from Flagstaff, AZ.

jamis durango 1.0 No question will ask if return and CASH REWARD

location

Hi bicycling community, Last week (10/07) my Jamis Durango 1(19", Gloss Black/Birch Beer, 2009) was stolen right off Walnut Creek BART station between 10:30am and 2:30pm. This was an really new bike and I hope some one can help me find it. I didn't make any changes to the bike, but the bike do have a black water bottle holder, a bike lock hold(The theft may take it off when they sell it), tire Liner and I change the tubes to smart tubes so the cover of the air valve are green. This is my first bike and it sure meant a lot to me, darn it. Please help me find it and there will be cash reward for the help. P.S. If you somehow get the bike and return it to me, you will get the cash reward and no question will ask. If you have any information, please send a E-mail to chrislau102@hotmail.com
