The patch over the utility trench on the eastbound lane of Hopkins St. between California St. and McGee Ave. has sunk down so there is a tall lip on path sides of the patched area which will catch a bicycle wheel. I almost fell down when my front wheel caught this lip. UPDATE 1-11-15: Submitted to Berkeley. Received Service Request Number: 229188.

Berkeley just re-did the roads here in advance of Whole Foods opening; in the process, they made it so the bike lane on Gilman, just before 9th, is 3/4 (or more) blocked by a grate that is completely unsafe to ride over. UPDATE 1-10-15: Submitted your descriptive (thank you!) report to Berkeley. Received Service Request Number: 229073. Also forwarded a note to the PW department. UPDATE 1-11-15: Received quick confirmation from PW Dep't: "I have found the case and reallocated to the Streets Division. I am sure they will handle it as a make safe situation."

This is the third theft on this vehicle in this block in 3 weeks... the first being stolen bike lights (valued $50), the second were both tires stolen last week (value $345.00), and last night the ENTIRE bike was stolen, (valued over $1500.00).

Uses pinhead skewers to lock wheels and thin cord with padlock to secure bike seat to frame. Bright blue handlebar tape covers the bike grips, which are old and sticky.
