Get GEARED up! Helmets! Bikes! Bells!

Come join the East Bay's newest monthly Bike Party geared for kids,
families, and riders of any age who are new to wheels, pedals, and
gears. Our 4 mile route, with one modest hill, this month will include
music to pedal to and a snack stop for the kids.
Bring water, snacks, and sunscreen!

Helmets required for kids.

Ride open to everyone!

East Bay Bicycle Coalition celebrates Team Bike Challenge winners with a happy hour bash at Actual Cafe Friday, June 24th

bafwp1.jpg Another successful Bike Month has come and gone the results of the Team Bike Challenge are now final. Sangamo Cyclists of Alameda County, riding to Sangamo BioSciences in Richmond, are the regional winners in this year’s Team Bike Challenge. See the Sangamo Cyclists featured in the inspiring video at the bottom of this page. Congratulations to Sangamo Cyclists, the regional and Alameda County winners with 2,901 team miles logged in May, to the Hydrologic Cyclers, the Contra Costa County winners with 2,081 miles logged, and to KW Engineering, an Oakland firm who won the region in the small company category. Out of the top five teams three were from Alameda County – we have a lot to celebrate. The two winning teams for Alameda and Contra Costa counties will win a Commuter Rack Trunk from REI for each team member, plus other goodies. Here at the East Bay Bicycle Coalition we would like to send the heartiest of congratulations to all Team Bike Challenge participants for all of the riding that you did in May as part of the Team Bike Challenge, this year and in years past!

Alameda County needs your input on the Countywide Bicycle Pedestrian Plan

Your input is requested on the Alameda Countywide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plans!

Interested community members are invited to come to one of four local Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) meetings being held around Alameda County to provide input on the updates to the Countywide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plans.

Public Art Bike Tour to benefit Spokeland

June 11, 2011 - 10:00am to 2:30pm

Spokeland will be hosting a tour of awesome public art in the East Bay on Saturday, June 11th. Space is limited so RSVP early! The ride will start at 10am at San Leandro BART and will end around 1pm at Spokeland, 1121 64th St., with a four-course luncheon. Route is approximately 20 miles and flat, pace will be leisurely, all riders welcome. We'll be stopping a half dozen times along the way to check out sculptures, murals, and our beautiful city! Cost is $25-50 sliding scale, no one turned away for lack of funds.

This month's route will be about 4 miles, flat, and will stay as far off heavily trafficked streets as much as we can manage. We'll have music to pedal to and a mid-way stop to share snacks.

Helmets required for kids.
Be sure to pack snacks, water, and sunscreen!
If you'd like to, bring along a picnic lunch to enjoy lakeside at the end of the ride.

19th Street Oakland is the nearest BART Station this month.

East Bay Cohousing Bike Tour

June 11, 2011 - 9:15am to 3:30pm

Pump up your tires and get ready to bike to 6 East Bay cohousing communities. We'll be biking 9 miles on a flat route at a leisurely pace with frequent stops. We'll start at Berkeley Cohousing, ride on to Doyle Street in Emeryville, Mariposa Grove in North Oakland, Temescal Commons and Temescal Creek Cohousing in North Oakland and end at Swan's in downtown Oakland where you can jump on BART or pedal home.

Karen Hester, founding member of Temescal Creek Cohousing, is your tour leader.
