The Richmond BPAC discussed the planned Bay Trail Extension to Pt. Molate and approved a recommendation for a preferred alignment along the west side of I-580. This is the least expensive of the alignments and provides a more direct connection to Pt. Molate from Castro St. The project is still in design phase and we expect to see final designs soon. The Richmond BPAC is sending a letter to Caltrans and the City of Richmond with their support.
New bikeways have been striped on Robert Miller Dr. and Filbert St and new bike lanes on 37th St are in the works. The new bike lanes on Robert Miller Dr are a first, to our knowledge, where the contracting crew, while striping the bike lanes, called the city traffic planer and asked if they could extend the bike lane striping all the way thru the sweeping right turn at the intersection with San Pablo. Great work contractors!

Please attend one of these upcoming workshops or stop by the open studios and voice your support for bike lanes on 23rd Avenue.
This project involves the implementation of a “road diet,” which includes a reduction of lanes in each direction and bike lanes. In addition, the project will include pedestrian enhancements to improve safety and enhance traffic flow along 23rd Street in the City of San Pablo. The work is being coordinated with the adjoining City of Richmond project.

Status report from Questa Engineering on the Bay Trail Project from Castro Street to the Richmond Bridge in Pt. Richmond. This is an area that has been dangerously difficult for bicyclists to navigate. There will be an assessment ride to the location some day to be determined prior to the meeting. Stay tuned!
