Posey Tube Closed Overnight Jan 17 & 18 for Maintenance

Maintenance Planned for Posey Tube
January 17 and January 18, 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

Oakland/Alameda – Caltrans Maintenance will close the Posey Tube (eastbound State Route 260 from Alameda to Oakland) on Monday night, January 17, and Tuesday night, January 18, from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. During these closures traffic will be detoured.

Detour for Bicyclists and Pedestrians

Bicyclists and Pedestrian traffic should detour to the nearest AC Transit bus stop. In Oakland, board at Broadway. In Alameda, board at Webster St. and Buena Vista Avenue.

League Cycling Instructors enjoy a rewarding way to help cyclists in our community and get paid by the Bicycle Coalition in the process. Help bring the joy of safe cycling to others. If you are an experienced cyclist and would like to teach others please consider taking the next step towards certification. Becoming a League member and taking Traffic Skills 101 are prerequisites for a certification seminar.

$200, Maximum of 16 students- register now. The Bicycle Coalition has a stipend for one spanish-speaking and one chinese-speaking cyclist for this class.

Holiday Lights Ride Around Alameda - (CANCELLED)

December 23, 2010 - 6:30pm

Following on the coattails of our successful Halloween ride, we will be leading a fun ride around town to view your favorite holiday light displays.

This is an opportunity to equip you and your bike for night riding. We will have ride leaders and sweepers to keep the group flowing.

We will end the ride on Christmas Tree Lane (Thompson Avenue)

Bring a helmet, water, head light and tail light. Any reflective gear would be helpful, too.

Decorate your bike, too!

The route for this ride will be determined by YOUR SUGGESTIONS!

Holiday Women of WOBO Ride

Just across the estuary, there’s a little street by the name of Thompson Ave that just goes wild for the holidays. Lights, music, trees, reindeer – these folks go all out! Last year, visitors to one yard were encouraged to step on up to a homemade stage for karaoke, and another family handed out mulled cider to passersby. If you’ve got holiday spirit, this is the place for you.

Safe road bicycling takes a lot more than balance, a helmet and a good attitude. Join the East Bay Bicycle Coalition and REI safety instructors for a morning of fun games, safety drills, skills building, and a neighborhood ride. For kids able to ride a bike and who are ready to ride on the roadways with their parents. Parents and kids must attend together and should bring their own bikes. Each child receives a free red blinky light for participating!

Bike Alameda: "Haunt your House" night bike ride

October 26, 2010 - 6:30pm to 9:00pm

"Haunt your House" night bike ride.

Bike Alameda is pleased to partner with the "Haunt your House" contest to offer a fun bike ride around town to view the entries.

Homes and businesses around Alameda will be decorated.

BikeAlameda will pick a safe route, give a safety spiel and lead the ride. We will stop at some of the decorated house entries. There will be refreshments along the way, too.

You must wear a helmet and have a head light and tail light on your bike. Any reflective gear would be helpful, too.
