Bike East Bay volunteers met April 14 at Westbrae Beer Garden to look over Berkeley’s upcoming five-year repaving plan and identify potential bike improvements on streets getting repaved. Of all the money Berkeley spends each year on transportation improvements, its repaving program is the largest. Thus, it’s the best opportunity to improve the streets you ride everyday. Here are the streets proposed for repaving:
And here is a Google Spreadsheet with our recommended bike improvements. What did we miss?
Repaving Spreadsheet with Recommended Bike Improvements
Berkeley City Council approves the 5-year repaving plan at its June 27 council meeting. Then Bike East Bay meets with Public Works to go over new bikeway designs. Take a look at our spreadsheet (link above) and let us know what we have missed. Send an email to dave@bikeeastbay.org with your ideas. Your input will help ramp up and accelerate bike improvements in Berkeley. Let’s make Berkeley the first city in East Bay to complete a bike network.
