Reports to: Membership Manager and Education Director
The Outreach Coordinator will manage Bike East Bay’s volunteer program and support the education program, with opportunities to especially focus outreach and leadership development in communities of color. Specific duties will include volunteer recruitment, training, participant communications, class promotion, and program evaluation.
Volunteer program duties include:

Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for major Bike East Bay community events, outreach booths, fundraising, office volunteering, and other program needs

Publicize volunteer opportunities via an email newsletter, Bike East Bay’s website, social media, and other channels

Lead the Bike Ambassador program, training volunteers to become Bike East Bay outreach representatives on Bike to Work Day and at events year-round

Oversee Valet Bicycle Parking program and manage Valet Coordinator

Develop and maintain relationships with local organizations and in communities of color to promote volunteering, bike education, and opportunities for leadership development.

Maintain records of volunteer activities and regularly review and evaluate the program
Education Program duties include:

Communicate with bike education class participants, including sending class notifications, managing class registrations, and answering questions from participants

Assist in reviewing the education program by conducting pre/post class surveys

Promote bike education classes and events online, with community partners, and through flyer distribution

Assist with bike education related data entry, website updates, class supplies inventory, and other duties as assigned
Desired Skills and Experience
-
At least one year of volunteer management, event production, community organizing, or related experience

Confident speaking in front of groups and excellent communication skills in person and via email

Ability to multi-task, identify priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive as part of a team

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word and experience with Google Docs, Mailchimp, volunteer management software, project management software, and/or basic web design
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

Experience directing large groups of volunteers (groups of 30+) in a festival environment

Fluency speaking, writing and reading Spanish and/or Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin)

Experience in outreach, leadership development, and/or community organizing with people of color, lower-income people, and immigrants
Compensation & Benefits:
The salary range for this full-time exempt position is $48,000 to $50,000 annually. Bike East Bay provides an excellent benefits package including 100% employer paid employee health, dental, match to retirement contributions, paid time off, and holidays. Position will entail work on some weeknights and weekends. Weekday schedule is flexible around event demands.
