Recruit Novice Riders for the Team Bike Challenge
There is still time to start recruiting cyclists for May’s Team Bike Challenge, and EBBC members can lead the way. The Team Bike Challenge is a great opportunity to introduce new riders to the joys of cycling on everyday trips – to work, school, social events, errands, shopping, etc.
Teams consist of 2-5 people, and every team is required to have at least 1 Novice Rider. There is an advantage to having more than 1 Novice Rider because novices get extra points for participating in Team Bike Challenge for the first time. Points are recorded for trips throughout the month of May. Logging your trips is on the honor system, and you can backlog your trips up to one week. So, there are a few days left to get your team together
The EBBC will throw a party in June for all East Bay teams that exceed 15 novice points and 75 total team points. In addition, your team will compete for county-wide and regional prizes. But most importantly, you’ll be introducing more cyclists to everyday riding and giving yourself an extra incentive to get out on your bike around town.
