Join BART’s Bicycle Brigade in the Alameda 4th of July Parade!

Wednesday, July 4, 2012 - 9:30am to 11:30am

We would love to have you join BART’s Bicycle Brigade in the Alameda 4th of July Parade!

Led by BART Director, Robert Raburn, a fun BART bicycle contingent will enjoy riding in one of the “Best Hometown” parades in America to call attention to free valet bike parking at our Fruitvale station and other BART bicycle programs. The parade starts at 10 AM. Director Raburn will have a “trailer” attached to his bike which will sport banners, decorations and, most importantly a brand new boom box that will be blasting music to pedal by!

Lincoln Street, between Oak and Willis. Group forms starting at 9am, parade at 10am.
So come on out and have some fun with us! We'll send you all of the details when you RSVP. We hope to see you there!

Hello everyone.  Thank you for joining our BART Bicycle Brigade's debut at the Alameda 4th of July Parade.  Here are the details:

At 9 AM our group will gather on Lincoln between Oak & Willow Streets.  Our groups number is #12 and we will intermix with the Bike Alameda contingent (#12-A) for the entirety of the Parade.  Our number will be painted on the actual street, so you know where to be.

If you care to dress up your bike spo kes, we'll have some red, white and blue streamers for you.  We'll also supply you with a small American flag to put somewhere on your bike (we'll have tape, too).  Feel free to dress up as Uncle Sam, Rosie the Riveter or anything else fun and iconically American.

Also, remember to wear hats , sunglasses and bring your non-glass containers of water for hydration as well as suntan lotion.  It's about a 3.25 mile route, so beware of the sun and heat - NO passing out allowed :-)  !!!!

For those of you that are early risers, Jims coffee shop is a block away, where you can get breakfast of grab a quick cup of coffee to go.
