**Rescheduled to June 10 - don’t worry, there’s another great ride in Fremont on May 20, an Affordable Housing Tour led by the East Bay Housing Organization**
Social Ride in traffic organized by Bikeways for Fremont. Pace will be slow (no one gets left behind). Bike lanes along the entire route, although Stevenson can be a bit gnarly if you’re not used to riding in traffic. We’ll be visiting the power centers for bicycle advocacy and traffic policy in Fremont.
We’ll start at the Fremont Main Library. Meet by the bike racks out front. We’ll briefly stop by the Fukaya room, site of Bike East Bay’s Urban Cycling 101 workshops.
Then we’ll head to Development Services Center at 39550 Liberty Street. The Niles Room here is the site of the Fremont Bicycle Pedestrian Technical Advisory Committee meetings. The building is closed on weekends, so we won’t get to see the actual room though.
Next up, the government buildings at 39155 Liberty Street. Nothing much interesting here, except for a couple of BikeLink lockers out front. If one is free, we’ll demo usage.
Final Stop is City Hall and the Council chamber, where City Council, Planning Commission and Recreation Commission meetings determine the fate of bicycle infrastructure in the City of Fremont.
We can have lunch at a mutually agreeable venue for anybody interested after the ride is over.
We’ll be riding in traffic so helmets and visible clothing are highly recommended.
We’ll also be stopping at each location to look inside the buildings, so bring something to lock your bike.
