The city of Fremont is actively recruiting three new members to join the Bicycle and Pedestrian Technical Advisory Committee (BPTAC). The application deadline has been extended to January 27, and we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
2017 is shaping up to be an incredibly exciting year for Fremont, with a bike plan in the works as well as multiple protected bikeways in the pipeline. Read more here and be a part of the change by joining the BPTAC.
What is the BPTAC?
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Technical Advisory Committee is a 5 member committee that helps Fremont city staff make decisions related to bicycle and pedestrian plans and projects. For example, they might weigh in on what streets to prioritize for future bikeway projects. Or they might provide feedback on the design of a protected intersection. Members might also be called upon to help out on Bike to Work Day or participate at community meetings.
What is required of BPTAC members?
Members are expected to serve four year terms, expiring December 31, 2020, and attend the regular meetings which are typically held on the third Wednesday of the month. See the official list of member duties & responsibilities
Who should apply?
There are no technical requirements for BPTAC members. We’re looking for a diverse set of people, who each bring something to the table. This could mean a really great knowledge of the current conditions of city streets and the city’s bikeway network. This could also mean technical knowledge, and experience reviewing project designs and plans. Or maybe this could mean a leader and great facilitator of meetings. Above all, we hope this means passion for the riding a bike, and improving the streets of Fremont for anyone who wants to ride a bike there too.
