[POSTPONED] Berkeley Bike Plan to City Council for Approval

Tuesday, January 31, 2017 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm Old City Hall on MLK Jr Way

Postponed Until February [date t.b.d.]

We have two asks of Berkeley City Council on January 31 and one of you today.

For Council:

  1. approve the draft Berkeley Bicycle Plan, which is quite good in our opinion, and
  2. approve Mayor Jesse Arreguin’s companion council item directing staff to start work on building protected bike lanes on Milvia Street through downtown, and complete the Milvia bikeway by the time the new Center Street Garage opens in 2018.

While the items will be on ‘consent,’ your presence is appreciated to make a good showing and thank staff for listening to your input and revising the draft plan to include more low-stress, family-friendly bikeways.

For you:

Please send an email today to your favorite Berkeley Councilmember letting them know you support both items, the bike plan and Milvia Street. Click this link to find your Berkeley councilmember.

Bike East Bay volunteers worked a long time and put in a lot of work on these two asks and January 31 should be a night to celebrate. Please plan to join us for drinks afterward at Jupiter Pizza & Beer in downtown Berkeley. Follow the chatter on Twitter @bikeeastbay, #bikeberkeley.

The final draft Bicycle Plan includes a “Low Stress” bike network that looks like this:
