On Tuesday, September 18, 2012, the Piedmont City Council and Planning Commission will hold a joint meeting to vote on expanding the scope of the upcoming City's Bicycle Plan, and combining it with a Pedestrian Plan (including a Safe Routes to School section). We need to show our support for this proposal. Currently, the city has dedicated precious little funding to developing their first ever Bicycle Plan.
The meeting will start at 5:00 p.m. on Sept 18 in the EOC Conference Room at the Police Station, 403 Highland Avenue. The City Council and Planning Commission may provide comments and direction on how to proceed concerning both subjects.
Staff reports will be available on the City's website at www.ci.piedmont.ca.us on or about September 14th.
People who ride in Piedmont and want better streets for bicycling really need to attend the September 18th meeting and tell the city how important it is for the city to dedicate more money to development a thorough and complete Bicycle Plan. Additionally, please feel free to email comments to firstname.lastname@example.org. And they will be forwarded to the City Council and Planning Commission members.
