Bike to School Day: Thursday, May 11
Every year, the Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools program joins the entire San Francisco Bay Area region in celebrating Bike Month in May — with the biggest celebration happening on Bike to School Day. After several years of celebrating virtually with Bike to the Moon Week, we are excited to bring back Bike to School Day this year!
Bike to School Day is a great opportunity for students and families to join their neighbors in the Bay Area in experiencing the joy of active commuting while building a sense of community and school spirit. On your ride to school, you may bump into a friend, see a neighborhood garden in bloom, and feel energized by the fresh air – just a few of the many reasons to get out there by biking!
This year’s Bike to School Day is on Thursday, May 11, but schools are welcome to celebrate on any day that best suits their schedules! Registered schools will receive free resources and training to help them encourage and celebrate safe bicycle travel within their school and wider community.
Register your school and find additional resources on the Safe Routes to Schools website, and get ready to join the Bay Area to celebrate biking with local communities this May!
