Media and Communications Intern
The Bicycle Coalition is seeking a talented and energetic intern to work on improving our communications including our website, print newsletter, e-newsletters, press releases, and social media leading up to Bike to Work Day. The hours for this internship position are approximately 8 hours/week and we seek a 12-week minimum commitment. This internship will provide the opportunity to develop a broad portfolio of communications projects, and to develop skills in communications planning and strategy. Projects will include developing press releases for events, developing stories for web and print, developing a social media strategy focused on Bike to Work Day. The Communications intern will report to the Executive Director, and will work closely with the Program Director and Membership Director.
Applicants should have strong people skills and enjoy working in non-profit environment. Living and going to school or having worked in the East Bay are a plus. We will provide a stipend for the Media and Communications intern.
Skills & Knowledge to be Gained

Requirements
Essential:
- Interest in Media and Communications
- Excellent writing skills
- Track record of working well on team projects
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Cheerful, friendly, upbeat outlook
- Web/html experience
- Graphics savvy (Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Helpful:
- Drupal programming
- Press or journalism background
- Familiarity with biking in the East Bay
- Commitment to building a bike-friendly East Bay
The East Bay Bicycle Coalition was founded in 1972 to safeguard the interests of bicyclists in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, and now represents over 3,000 members. East Bay Bicycle Coalition works for safe, convenient and enjoyable bicycling for all people in the east bay. The past two years have marked huge growth and strategic change in the organization. The EBBC seeks to continue its impressive advocacy track record, while broadening its base of members to be ever more representative of the regions’ cyclists. EBBC works with 33 cities, both counties, Caltrans and other government agencies to improve conditions for cyclists.
