Over the course of the past year our five City commissions (Planning, Design Review, Transportation, PROS (Park, Recreation, & Open Space), and Arts) have reviewed the first three chapters of the draft West Downtown Specific Plan which was published in November 2014. These chapters establish the Vision and Guiding Principles that will serve as the foundation to the Plan, and cover the higher-level concepts that apply to the entire Plan Area (between the BART station and Olympic Blvd. to the north and south, and California Blvd. and the freeway to the east and west).
At the December 15 City Council meeting, staff presented the Commissions’ comments and asked for direction on some key discussion points before continuing the review process for the remaining chapters of the draft Plan. The City Council took public testimony at that meeting, but postponed their deliberations due to time constraints. The City Council is now scheduled to begin their discussion of this item and the comments received at their previous meeting.
