Join the East Bay Easy Riders, led by Mary Ann and Murphy, along with Bike East Bay for a long, flat ~25 mile ride from San Leandro BART to Fremont BART.
We’ll meet at 10am and depart toward the Bay Trail promptly. Once at the water, we’ll enjoy beautiful smooth paved miles of shoreline trail and expansive Bay views until San Lorenzo, when the trail becomes packed dirt and occasionally gravel. Riders with very skinny tires are welcome but cautioned that this might be a rougher stretch on to the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center. We’ll break for a yummy picnic lunch here (pack a lunch! A yummy one!), then continue down the Hayward Shoreline and the Alameda Creek Trail to the 9/11 Memorial in Union City. We’ll take city streets to end at Fremont BART.
Update: The ride will be about 20 miles, and will end at Union City BART. About 4 miles of the Bay Trail on this route are gravel, so those with skinny tires are cautioned. Hybrid or fat tires are preferable for this ride! Also, there is almost nowhere to purchase food, so be sure to bring a good lunch and any snacks you’ll want.
This will be a social, scenic touring ride! If you’re comfortable on a bike, ride around, and are ready to try a slightly longer ride, this will be a wonderful way to explore new trails and ride with a group, enjoying amazing views almost the whole ride. Make sure your bike is in good working order, you have a spare tube, and bring a lunch, water, sunscreen, and your friends!
