Join us and our friends from Greenbelt Alliance for a gorgeous bike ride in east Contra Costa County! You’ll learn firsthand the importance of the county’s urban limit line (ULL), which is currently threatened by numerous sprawl pressures.
In June, the Contra Costa Transportation Authority will decide how to invest billions of dollars of transportation funds from a proposed tax measure. Will they encourage smart growth and safe streets, funding for transit and bicycle/pedestrian paths? Or will they move forward with a sprawl-inducing roadway through prime agricultural land? Read more in the East Bay Times.
The ride will include sweeping views of the foothills of the Mount Diablo wilderness, as well as visits to Smith Family Farm and First Generation Farmers. We’ll savor the fruits of the greenbelt while the Brentwood Agricultural Land Trust tells us about the pressures farmers face on the urban edge.Details and registration here
