Bike East Bay’s key asks for this plan update are as follows:
- A continuous network of low-stress all-ages bikeways throughout Pleasant Hill including only Class I trails, Class IV protected bikeways, and Class 3B neighborhood bikeways (aka bike boulevards) with significant traffic calming to keep car speeds and volumes below NACTO-defined guidelines
- Low-stress, all-ages bikeway connections between Pleasant Hill and neighboring communities, especially past 680 including to Concord’s Monument Community. These should include both short-term goals of improved freeway interchange access and safety for people walking or rolling, and a long-term vision network of dedicated bike/walk bridges and underpasses avoiding the freeway interchanges altogether.
